Here is the infantry for the new Austrian 1809 Army. I like the 28mm plastics from Victrix. All the Victrix Austrian boxes are basically the same inside, it's just the corner of the sprue where the heads are that changes with the different types they sell.

Unlike some Victrix ranges there is a sensible amount of assembly, and the whole battalion comes together in the one box.

I mainly have the Shako wearing infantry, but with some units still wearing the Kasket, and, of course, some Grenadiers in Bearskins.

Perry plastics were almost my choice, and they have all the headgear variants - Kasket, Shako, Bearskin - in the one box. Very intelligent. I felt the detail on the Victrix was more prominent, though, and easier for me to paint. I also like the Victrix faces. All of their ranges have such expressive faces, full of character. You also get mounted Officers in the box, with heads options for the various levels of Command,

Here's the first unit assembled. There is enough in a box to do two x 24 man units, plus some spares for markers, Grenz skirmishers etc. In the rules we use this represents a battalion of about 1,000 men. A standard battalion would be 18 figures. There are three battalions to a Regiment, 2 Regiments to a Brigade.

There is a single flag bearer per battalion, (two per box) which is fine for 1809, but in other years the Austrians usually carried two flags per battalion, so an extra sprue or two, or a few additional metals, might be needed.
